Change Field Workflow Step

The Change Field workflow step provides the ability to automatically modify the value of a field to a pre-determined value, or to the value of another field, during execution of the workflow step. This workflow step is automated and is not presented to end users executing the workflow.

The Change Field workflow step can be used in automated, batch, and manual workflows.

Workflow Step Configuration

The Change Field workflow step is configured to appear in a workflow from the Workflows page in System Management (System Management > Workflow > Workflows).

Similar to other workflow steps, the Change Field step is added to a workflow from the the Design tab in the Workflow Configuration window. For information on this tab and how to configure a workflow, please see the Workflows topic in this guide.

Step Properties

Once the Change Field step is selected, a window appears to configure the step properties.

The General tab for the Change Field workflow step is completed in the same manner as other workflow steps. For information regarding the completion of this tab, please see the Configuring Workflow Steps section in the Workflows topic.

Field

From the Field tab, administrators are able to determine the field to be updated during workflow step execution as well as define the new value to populate for the field.

The Field List drop-down provides the ability to determine whether Account, Case, or Person fields are available to select from in the Destination box at the bottom of the tab. For example, when Account is selected, Account level fields populate within the Field Tree in the Destination box.

Once a Field List is determined, navigate to the Destination box and select the field to be updated with the Change Field workflow step.

Only fields with a one-to-one relationship to an account, person or case may be changed.
If the Change Field workflow step is configured to update the Last Statement Date for a repayment plan, and the account associated with the workflow is not related to a repayment plan, an error is received upon execution of the Change Field step.

After selecting the destination field, determine the source of the new value by using the radio buttons next to the Field List. The source value options are as follows:

Once a source value option is selected, enter or select the new value for the destination field within the Source box.

When both the destination and source values are identified, the message in the middle of the tab displays the field path of the destination field and source value to be set with the workflow step. For example, when the Change Field workflow step is configured to update the value of the Delinquent Flag to true, the message in the tab appears as shown below:
