Temenos Lifecycle Management Suite - Recovery Product Guide
Charge Off Events

Within System Management, administrators have the ability to author Event Processing rules that automatically set the value of Recovery GL Account and Metro 2 Credit Reporting fields during and after the charge off process. For example, rules may be authored which automatically assess whether an account is eligible for credit reporting and subsequently set the IsEligibleForCreditReporting field to true or false at the time that an account is charged off.

The Charge Off Events topic provides an overview of the configurations required to automatically set the value of Recovery GL Account and Metro 2 Credit Reporting fields during and after the charge off process.

Rule Configuration

For a complete overview of the rule configuration process, please see the Rule Authoring Topic within the Administrator Guide.

To begin authoring this type of rule, navigate to System Management > Collections > Rules Management and click  to open Rules Manager. Create a new rule using the EventProcessing category. Click  and select Business Rule. Within the pop-up window, select the Account or Account.Persons Entity.

There are many ways to author a rule; the rules provided below are to be used for example ONLY.

Within the If Statement, define the conditions which must be met in order for a field to be set at the time of charge off. For example:

When authoring the Then Statement, select the "set the value of a field" action template. Upon selecting this template, the following vocabulary populates: "set [field] to [value]."

The example below provides a demonstration of a rule that assesses whether an account that has been charged off is eligible for credit reporting based on the account's available balance and account type:

The following is another example of a rule that sets the Date of First Delinquency when an account is charged off:

Create Event/Action Pair

Once a rule has been authored, Pre Charge Off and Post Charge Off events can be created by navigating to System Management > Collection > Event Processing and clicking .

Within the Events tab, select the Pre Charge Off or Post Charge Off event type. Within the Actions tab, select the Execute Rules action and assign the rule authored to set the value of Metro 2 credit reporting fields or Recovery GL account fields at the time of charge off.

Reference the table below for an example of the required configurations for a Post Charge Off Event, which assesses whether an account that has been charged off is eligible for credit reporting:
Configuration Where Configured Description

Author Event Processing Rule:

  • Entity - Account
  • Template - If/Then/Else, Set the Value of a Field
System Management > Collection > Rules Management

When this rule executes, the value of a designated field is set according to the rule configuration. For example, rules can be authored that execute when the Pre Charge Off Event is triggered to set an Account field on the Recovery Account, such as Description, to populate with a unique account description. The following is an example rule configuration to set the Description field on a Recovery Account:

Configure Event/Action Pair:

  • Event - Post Charge Off
  • Action - Execute Rules
    • Assign the Event Processing rule configured to set the value of Metro 2 Credit Reporting fields.
System Management > Collection > Event Processing This event/action pair executes when the charge off process is complete. When the charge off process completes, and the account in context is moved from the Collection module to the Recovery module, the rule assigned to the Execute Rules action fires to automatically set the value of Metro 2 Credit Reporting fields for the Recovery account in context.

For more information on Event Processing, please see the Event Processing topic within the Administrator Guide.
