IP address blacklisting can be configured by following four simple steps:

1. Enable the Blacklisted IP Addresses Permission in Users/Security Groups.
2. Enable Blacklisting for each instance in Virtual Capture Settings.
3. Configure Blacklist parameters in Origination page in System Management.
4. Manually blacklist IP addresses and view existing blacklisted addresses on the Blacklist IP Addresses screen.

Enable the Blacklisted IP Addresses Permission in Users/Security Groups

In order to view and edit information within the Blacklisted IP Addresses System Management screen, permissions must be granted at the User and/or Security Group level.

To set the Blacklisted IP Addresses permission:

1. Navigate to System Management > Users or System Management > Groups > Security Groups.
2. Double-click on the desired user or security group and select the Permission tab of the User/Security Group Edit window.
3. Within the Virtual Capture section, set the Blacklisted IP Addresses permission to Change.
4. Click .

Enable Blacklisting in Virtual Capture Settings 

The tracking of IP addresses is a component of blacklisting, along with preventing an applicant from using Virtual Capture from a blacklisted IP address. If an applicant attempts to access an application within an individual instance of Virtual Capture, and their IP address has been blacklisted, an error message is displayed. Both IP address tracking and the blacklisted error message are configured within Virtual Capture Settings.

To enable IP address tracking and configure the error message:

1. Navigate to System Management > Origination > Virtual Capture > Virtual Capture Settings.
2. Create a new Individual instance of Virtual Capture, or edit an existing Individual instance.
3. Select the Login tab.
4. Within the Blacklist IP Address section, select the Capture IP Address check box, and enter error text within the Error Message for Blacklisted IP Address field.

    

5. Click .

Configure Blacklist Parameters for the Origination Module

The Blacklist tab within Origination page contains two settings that support IP address blacklisting functionality. These parameters control the number of applications that are allowed from each IP address, as well as the number of days it takes to flag an IP address as blacklisted.

To define the blacklisting parameters:

1. Navigate to System Management > Modules > Origination.
2. Select the Blacklist tab.

   

3. Within the Number of applications allowed per IP Address field, enter the number of applications that can be submitted from an IP address.
4. Within the Number of Days to Blacklist an IP Address field, enter the number of days that must pass before an IP address is blacklisted.
5. Click .

Manually blacklist IP addresses and view existing blacklisted addresses on the Blacklist IP Addresses screen

Automatic IP address blacklisting occurs once all of the blacklist-related settings have been configured in Virtual Capture Settings, and the Origination page. The Blacklist IP Addresses System Management screen provides administrators with the ability to view a list of IP addresses that have been automatically blacklisted, as well as the ability to manually blacklist IP addresses.

To manually blacklist an IP address:

1. Navigate to System Management > Origination > Virtual Capture > Blacklist IP Addresses.
2. Click .
3. Within the Blacklist IP Address window, enter the IP address to blacklist.
4. Click .

     5. The IP address appears within the list on the Blacklist IP Addresses screen and is considered blacklisted.
