Akcelerant Elements
Real-Time

Configuration and troubleshooting of the Real-Time connection is done mainly from within the Download application. If you are experiencing real-time failures, check the following:

Symptoms Description
'Could not find COM Object' error message appears when you click Edit for the highlighted Core Interface. This error will occur if the Download has already been configured and then the Core Interface was uninstalled. Go to Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel on the application server and ensure the necessary Core Interface is in the list. If it is not:
  • Reinstall the Core Interface from the Install set.
  • Open the Download program.
  • Select Options > Import Type Maintenance.
  • Select the Core Interface and click Edit.
  • Check the Enable Real-time checkbox and click Test.
Real-time test fails. Confirm settings are correct.
  • Summit Clients: Check that the Pathways URL is correct. Copy and paste the URL into a browser window address line and click GO. If it is the correct URL you will receive a message "CmdSpectrum Hi there, this is an AXIS service!" If the URL is correct then check the Station ID's within Summit. These ID's need to be created for each Collection Element User ID in the format Username/GPG.
  • Other Core Interfaces: Check that the Core IP address is correct by 'pinging' that address
    • If it fails to respond either:
      • The IP address is incorrect OR
      • It is not allowed to respond to you.
    • If it does respond this indicates that the machine is there and you have the correct IP address.
Real-time test continues to fail Access the Core Interface through Import Type Maintenance in the Download program. Check the 'Create Communication Log' checkbox and click Test.
  • Go to the \Akcelerant\Elements Download\Download folder and look for the Host<InterfaceName>.log file.
  • Open the file and check the error. If you cannot understand the error contact Akcelerant for further support. You may need to send a copy of this log file to Akcelerant.
You get a 'Real-time Failed' message when logging into the Collection Element. Check the Windows Event log on the web server (Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer > Application and Service Logs > Akcelerant). Look for any Collection Element errors.
  • If there are no Collection Element errors, go to the modify machine conifig file section of the Collection Element Install Guide and complete that step.
  • Log in to Collection Element again.
  • If the error indicates 'Host Object could not be found or created,' confirm that it is installed properly. This error will occur if the Download has already been configured and then the Core Interface was uninstalled. Go to the Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel and ensure the Core Interface appears in the list. If it does not, reinstall the appropriate Core Interface from the Install set.
  • Other possible reasons for the same error:
    • The Web and the Download are installed on different servers and the Core Interface is NOT installed on the web server OR
    • The Web and the Download are on different servers, the Core Interface was installed on both servers but was installed without using the "Install for All" option.
If you get an error 'Cannot communicate with Host'... If the Collection Element Web and the Download are installed on different servers then one is not set up correctly.
  • Check the settings to confirm that the settings on the server that is not passing the test is the same as the server that IS passing the test.
