Contact Types

A Contact Type is a three-character code used to identify how a contact is related to a client. A Contact Type is assigned to a contact on the Contact Detail screen accessed from the workspace. A Contact Type does not need to be assigned to a contact, but is helpful for collectors to know what type of relationship the contact on a loan has with the client.

From System Management, select Collection > Contact Types from the Classify Group on the Configure tab. A list of Contact Types currently configured in the system is displayed.

From this page, administrators can create, edit and delete Contact Types.

Creating a Contact Type Code

To create a new Contact Type code, click New. A new row appears at the top of the list of Contact Types.

Enter a unique code in the Code textbox. Any alphanumeric string with a maximum of three characters can be used. All letters are saved in upper case.

In the Description textbox, enter a description of the Contact Type code to clearly define the Contact Type.

Ensure that the Active checkbox is selected to enable the Contact Type for use in Elements, then click Save. Click Cancel to disregard the addition of the new Contact Type.

Editing a Contact Type Code

To edit an existing Contact Type Code, click the Edit link of the Contact Type to edit.

Make any changes to the Contact Type Code and click Save. Click Cancel to disregard the changes.

Only the Description of the Contact Type can be edited.

Deleting a Contact Type Code

To delete a Contact Type Code, click the Delete checkbox next to the Contact Type Code to delete. Click Delete.

Contact Type Codes that are linked to existing contacts are not deleted - they are made inactive. Inactive Contact Type codes cannot be applied to new or existing contacts but are available for reports and searches.
